Two suspected cable vandals have been arrested by Officers of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Public Relations Officer of the agency, Mr. Anthony Agbafune who disclosed this on Thursday said the suspects were arrested following reliable intelligence.
“We were informed by a resident that two people were digging and vandalizing electricity and telecommunication cables in the area.
“In the course of documentation, the suspects confessed to specialise in vandalizing facilities of network service providers,” he said.
One of the suspects, Mr. Chigozie Mbakwe, while pleading for forgiveness, said he had no intention to steal the cables.
“I was working as a security personnel in the locality when I noticed the cable and contacted my friend to have a look at it. I never planned to steal it.
The suspects were paraded alongside twelve other illegal revenue collectors and impersonators of public officials and agencies.
The agency assured that the suspects would be transferred immediately to the police for more investigations and prosecution.
