Two men, Nwafor Chukwubuike, 34, and Nwadike Hope, 43, were on Wednesday brought before a Surulere Magistrate’ Court in Lagos State for alleged illegal possession of 73 bundles of military uniform.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, however, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful possession.
The prosecutor, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Aug. 11 at the Teju-Osho Shopping Complex, Phase 2, Surulere.
Ekhueorohan alleged that the men were found with the bundles of military uniform at the shopping complex.
The alleged offences contravene the provisions of Sections 329 (1) and (A) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasunbo Otitoju, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties each.
Otitoju directed that the sureties must provide proof of tax payment, adding that their home addresses must be verified by the court. She adjourned the case until Nov. 3 for mention. (NAN)
