A housewife, Jemila Momoh, on Wednesday approached a Grade I Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja, for the dissolution of her marriage to Suleiman Shazaliyu on grounds of abandonment.
The mother of four, told the court that she got married to her estrange husband under Islamic Law on March 21.
She alleged that since the marriage, the respondent abandoned her.
The petitioner further alleged that there was lack of intimacy and peace between them.
She said that several efforts by friends and family made to save the marriage failed.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that, though the respondent was absent from court, the court bailiff, Mr Dangana Bawa, told the court that he called and informed the respondent on the hearing date of the case.
The petitionerโs counsel, Mr Otacha Bako, applied for substituted service to be effected on the premises of the respondent.
Bako said that a personal service was not effected because the respondent evaded service and urged the court to order for a personal service again.
The judge, Malam Ibrahim Rufai, ordered for personal service to be effected on the respondent and adjourned the matter until Sept.19 for hearing. (NAN)Housewife seeks divorce on grounds of abandonment
