A total of 345 students in Anambra State have benefited from the scholarship scheme of the IG Aguowo Health and Academic Foundation.
Speaking during the 2nd Education/IGAHAF Seminar and Fourth Phase of Scholarship Award Ceremony, Founder and Chairman of the foundation, Ichie IG Aguowo, said the beneficiaries deserve admiration in view of the tough selection process they passed through.
He said, “You’re indeed the Best Brains. I am confident that the level of support and academic guidance that you as our scholars will receive in each of the secondary and tertial institutions that you are attending will be fulfilling and enriching.
“Today, we’re inducting 100 beneficiaries into the scholarship scheme. With this new intake, we’ll now have a total of 345 beneficiaries. Our target is to reach 10,000 beneficiaries.
“The foundation has just finished renovation of principal’s quarters at Ezike High School Nibo, Anambra, my alma mater. All these are for the love of education and services to God and humanity.”
Aguowo adviced the beneficiaries to make full use of their time in their various schools to further enhance your studies.
While urging the students to be thankful to their parents, teachers and schools for nurturing their academic excellence, Aguowo challenged them to reciprocate the gesture in the lives of others on graduation.
In her goodwill message, Head of Service, appreciated the benefactor for recognizing and rewarding hardwork, using his resources God endowed him with to invest in the lives of the students.
Earlier, Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma said the benefactor, through the scholarship was creating a new generation of children who would have positive outlook to life.
She urged the students to reciprocate the gesture by investing in lives of others during and after their graduation.
Speaker, State House of Assembly, Somto Udeze, thanked the benefactor for giving back to the society, urging other spirited individuals to emulate him.
Represented by Chairman, House Committee on Education, Anayo Okpaleke promised that the House of Assembly would partner with the foundation to improve the academic lives of the students.
He congratulated the beneficiaries, challenging them to reciprocate the gesture by bringing out the best expected of them.
“I was impressed when I came here last year for the scholarship, I’m overwhelmed this year. This is the society you’re preparing for tomorrow. You’re making an imprint,” he said.
