The Police in Lagos arraigned a 27-year-old man, Mudashiru Kayode, on Thursday before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged unlawful entry and stealing.
The defendant, whose address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of felony and stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP. Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Aug. 28, at about 8.00.a.m., at No. 5, Gbadamosi Str., opposite Ilado Primary School, Ilado, Badagry, Lagos State.
“The defendant conspired with others to unlawfully enter the house of one Folashade Jimon, the complainant, to commit felony to wit stealing. “He stole one hair clipper valued at N22,000, one MP player valued at N6,000, neck chain valued at 9,000, and one wristwatch valued at N1,000.
“Others are beverages valued at N2,500 and a cash of N51,000. The total value of money and property stolen is N91,500, belonging to the complainant.
“He was arrested the following day and handed over to the Police for prosecution,” he said.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Fadahunsi Adefioye, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said one of the sureties must be a blood relation and the other should be a religious leader.
Adefioye adjourned the case until Oct. 3, for mention. (NAN)
