Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has announced inclusion of 100 corps members in the Youth Development and Empowerment programme of his administration, tagged, “One Youth, Two Skills” solution.
He also disclosed that over 4000 youths have been trained in 22 different skills under the same programme.
Soludo disclosed this during the closing ceremony of 2023 Batch B stream 2 Orientation Course at the NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area of the state.
The governor, represented by Commissioner of Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba said the beneficiaries would soon be empowered to set up their own enterprises.
He enjoined corps members to take advantage of the opportunity as well as other youth focused policies of his administration.
“The beneficiaries will be supported to acquire training in two new skills and will be empowered to set up up their own entrepreneurial outfit at the end of their training,” he said.
Soludo further enjoined corps members to carry out their service with dedication and sense of purpose, as their contributions would make significant impact in lives of their host communities and to the progress of the State.
Emphasizing on the place of unity and national cohesion to national development, the governor urged corps members to strive for peace, harmony and tolerance irrespective of their diverse backgrounds.
“No matter our diverse backgrounds, we are all Nigerians bound together by common destiny.
“We must strive to promote peace, harmony and tolerance amongst ourselves and works towards building a stronger and more prosperous nation,” he added.
Earlier, NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Blessing Iruma advised corps members to report and quickly adjust to their places of primary assignment, just as she encouraged their employers to accept them and treat them as their permanent employees.
She lauded Soludo’s fatherly role to the youths, appealing for more inclusion of the corps members in the “One youth, Two Skills” Solutions of his administration.
She cautioned corps members against negative use of the social media.
