A Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Monday sentenced a 25-year-old security guard, Edu Nkanu, to seven years in prison for stealing compressors of air conditioners valued N380, 000 belonging to his employer.Nkanu who resides at No 14, Babatunde St., Off Ogunlana Drive, Surulere. Lagos, was charged on a single count of stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O Otitoju, who sentenced Nkanu after he pleaded guilty to the charge, did not give him any option of fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 8, at No 77 Itire Road, Surulere, Lagos.
Ekhueorohan said that Nkanu who worked as a security guard at a hospital, stole four compressors, an offence that contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
