Police arraign 3 in Badagry for allegedly assaulting man

The Police in Lagos on Monday arraigned three men in Badagry for allegedly stabbing a man all over his body.The defendants – Ademola Alawode, 40; Lukuman Salau, 32; and Samson Sodeke, 30 – whose addresses are unknown, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault.They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecutor, ASP Clément Okuoimose, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Aug. 19 at 1.00.p.m. at Iledu Community on Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

Okuoimose said: “The defendants assaulted Taofeek Abdul-Rasak, the complainant, by stabbing him all over his body.

“They were arrested by some people in the neighborhood and handed over to the police for prosecution.’’

According to the prosecutor, the offences, contravene Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Fadahunsi Adefioye, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum. He said that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant and must provide evidence of three years’ tax payment.

Adefioye adjourned the case until Sept. 26, for mention.
