Anambra East/West Rep raises alarm over development, educational backwardness in constituency

Member representing Anambra East/West Federal Constituency of Anambra state at the 10th National Assembly, Hon. Peter Udeogalanya Anekwe has raised alarm over the lack of socio-economic development, especially educational backwardness in his constituency and called for holistic efforts towards bridging the gap.
Hon. Aniekwe, made the remarks while speaking as a special guest of honour at the Obinetiti Umudora Anam International Convention held on Friday, August 18, 2023. Speaking on the theme: โEducation The Bedrock Of Development In Modern Ageโ, the lawmaker lamented that despite the huge impact of education in socio-economic and political development, his constituency has continued to lag behind in terms of educational enrolment and access to quality education at all levels.
The lawmaker who identified education and infrastructural development as a major priority of his representation, also called on the federal, state and local government authorities to come to the aide of the constituents. He disclosed that he has set up a fact-finding committee to assist in identifying schools that need urgent assistance and what they need, with a view of finding lasting solution to the educational backwardness in the area.Hon. Aniekwe also urged parents in the area to take advantage of his aggressive admission campaign to get their children and wards enrolled into the Chukwuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam and the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka for their higher education pursuits.
He further disclosed that he had set up committees on employment and empowerment to ensure that jobless youths who need jobs or empowerment get the much-needed help, assuring that he was ready to assist his constituents in any ways he can.
