A man, Saka Olalomi, accused of criminal trespass and fraudulently obtaining N825,000 for the sale of a land, on Monday, appeared before the Centre-Igboro Area Court in Ilorin.
The Complainant, Saheed Olokunola, informed the court that on Nov. 17, 2014, the defendant, sold five and half plots of land to him for N825,000 at Adangba Area, Ilorin.Olokunola said that he could not work on the land due to adverse claimants disturbing his peaceful ownership, in spite of assurances from the defendant. He said that the defendant later took him to another land, but another adverse claimant appeared on the scene again to challenge his title.Olokunola said that following this he requested for the refund of his money, but the defendant refused to pay. He said that the suit was consequently filed in order to seek the assistance of the court to recover his money.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
The presiding Judge, AbdulQadir Umar, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until Aug. 25, for continuation of hearing. (NAN)
