The Grassroot Volunteers Movement for Good Governance (GVMGG) an NGO, has urged relevant authorities to provide equal opportunity for youths to excel in their chosen field of endeavour.
Mr Abdul-Aziz Yusuf, Head of Communications and Planning of the group stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia on Sunday.
Yusuf, who spoke while reacting to the 2023 International Youths Day, said that the move would go a long way in addressing poverty, unemployment, and youth restiveness.
According to him, poverty and lack of equal opportunity were responsible for youthsโ restiveness in the country.
โThe issues that hinder youthโs prosperity in Nigeria are poverty, lack of equal opportunities and access to basic needs.
โThis is really sad when you consider the huge potential in transforming the youths to human capital for sustainable development,โ he said.
He, therefore, called on the stakeholders in both formal and informal sectors to engage the youths meaningfully to ensure a better, peaceful, and sustainable future.
Yusuf also urged governments at all levels to empower the youths with relevant skills needed to set the country on the path to sustainable growth and development.
โGovernment must also take proactive steps towards addressing insecurity, especially in rural communities, for development to thrive,โ Yusuf said. (NAN).
