Member representing Awka South 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Henry Mbachu has resumed duty as Physics teacher in Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka.
Mbachu was both a student and a teacher in the school where he thought Physics at the beginning of his career.
The lawmaker said he had written to the Commissioner of Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh to be a volunteer teacher of Physics after an oversight visit to the school on June 27, 2023.
“The Commissioner for Education who was pleased with the determination to teach school children, and my quest for academic excellence assented to the request and gave approval on July 13, 2023,” he said.
The Lawmaker appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for recruitment of 5000 teachers to improve workforce at public schools in the state, a step, he said has impacted positively on the development of the State’s educational system.
While charging the students to remain dedicated to their academic, Mbachu attributed his educational qualities to the foundation he laid through dedication and steadfastness in the school.
“I was an ex-student of this great citadel of learning, I also started my career as a teacher in this school. The foundation of educational qualities I posses in this life was laid here. I achieved it through dedication and steadfastness,” he added.
Responding, management of the school, teachers as well as the students expressed joy over the lawmaker’s decision to volunteer to impact knowledge of them.
