The spiritual leader of the Anambra State Vigilante Group (AVG), Chief David Onuorah Mmaduneme (Odanike) , has cautioned youths against raising false alarm of false narrative of security situation in the state.
Mmaduneme issued the warning over the weekend while reacting to a viral audio message accusing ascribing a recent kidnapp incidents in parts of Anambra East and West local government to Anam youths.
According to him, the false narrative given by a man identified as
Chukwudi Nwakasi (Otigbu) from Aguleri that he was behind the recent spike in criminal activities in the area was a mere fabrication designed to tarnish his reputation and ignite a conflict between Aguleri and Anam youths.
He urged law abiding citizens in the area to ignore the message which has gone viral on the social media and back the ongoing efforts to track and flush out the criminals in the area.
He told Anambra Daily: “I’m happy that such false alarm was raised by such a fellow with criminal background. I make bold to say this because my track record as a man noted for peace is well known in this area and across the state.
“I have been in this business of helping police and other security agents ensure adequate security of lives and property in the entire Anambra East and West plus Ayamelum for more than 20 years now and nobody has doubted or faulted our work.
“I was the arrow-head of security operations that flushed out criminals in this axis from Onitsha to Ayamelum down to Anam. This security group was composed of people from different communities across the Anambra East, including Aguleri. I also headed Vigilante security in Anambra East for more than ten years.
“So, anybody trying to link me with the recent criminalities in the area is looking for ways to cause chaos and not tackle it. This is so because I am under oath to checkmate crime and criminalities in the area and ensure peace. That’s exactly what am doing and will continue doing”, he said.
On the recent upsurge in crime in the area, Mr Mmadแปฅneme stressed that Vigilante operatives in the area are working with relevant security agents to get rid of the criminals.
He seized the opportunity to congratulate the new commissioner of Police in Anambra, Mr Adeoye, expressing confidence that his reign will witness remarkable improvement in security of lives and property in the state.
“we are looking forward to assisting the commissioner and police operatives in the state tackle crimes and criminalities in the state”, he asserted.
