New Anambra Police Commissioner Vows to Make State ‘Too Hot’ for Criminals

Police in Anambra State have killed two suspected kidnappers and rescued a middle-aged woman at Ichida bus stop along the IchidaIgboukwu expressway.

The Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye who disclosed this in a press conference on Wednesday said the deceased were neutralized during a gun duel between the operatives and the hoodlums.

He said preliminary information revealed that the 8-gang members operating with two vehicles a Grey Highlander jeep and a white Lexus 350, abducted the victim in her Highlander jeep.

He said the kidnap victim was rescued in collaboration with Vigilantes, adding that operational vehicles, two automatic pump action guns, eleven live cartridges, and a bag containing one walkie-talkie, one cell phone incriminating item were recovered from them while others escape the scene with other vehicies.

He said, “Joint security Operatives attached to Forwarding Operating Base FOB while on patrol around Uga-Ezinifite Expressway in an attempt to stop two vehicles that drove suspiciously, an ash highlander jeep and a white Lexus 305.

“The occupants started shooting sporadically to escape police screening, the joint forces engaged the armed hoodlums, neutralize two of the gang members.

“Meanwhile, in an intense chase by the joint forces, the deadly gang abandon the white Lexus 305 jeep and took to their heels.

“Further Information shows evidence of blood stains on all the vehicles as they have escaped with bullet wounds.

The CP called on operators of public and private hospitals to admit but report anyone with bullet wounds or related injuries to the nearest Police Station.

He added, “We’re not in the habit of telling criminals to relocate from the state. We won’t create problems for neighboring states. We have what it takes to deal with them here squarely unless they turn a new leaf.

“When we sustain operations, we don’t need anyone to advise them, they’ll advice themselves.

“For cross border crimes, we’re synergizing with other states, including sharing intelligence. We’ll make the entire Southeast too hot for criminal activities so they don’t have any hiding place.

“But we want to minimize loss of lives as much as possible because life is sacred. It’s foolishness to engage in unprofitable enterprise that will end in death.”
