It was Gerald Massey who stated in 1881 that the word “Africa”, for which Nigeria is one of its countries, is derived from the Egyptian word “Afruika” which translates ‘to turn toward the opening of the Ka‘. “Ka” itself is described as the energetic double of every person, while on the other hand, ‘the opening of the Ka’ refers to a womb or birthplace. Thus, Africa would be, for the Egyptians especially, ‘the birthplace’.

Today’s Egypt with a population of about 104 million people is the third most populous country in Mother Continent, and fares better in market size and appeal. For their mixed economy strong in tourism, agriculture, and fossil fuels with an emerging information and communications technology sector, it was safe for the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, HE Peter Obi to have gone there to understudy how they were able to achieve noble feats in critical areas of their national development, specifically power.

Nigeria has huge potentials for self-sufficiency and export. These were recognized by HE Peter Obi while he averred that his government would shift emphasis from consumption to production by running a production-centered economy that is driven by an agrarian revolution and export-oriented industrialization. Alas, their path toward fulfilling this vision had to be truncated by men desperately thirsty of drinking the sanguine waters of power. May the Judiciary be guided by the Heavens in delivering justice…
