Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has denied speculation that a former President-General of Ebenebe Town Union (Women Wing), Mrs Favour Nworah was removed from office by his government over her support for Mr Peter Obi and the Labour Party during the recent elections.

Governor Soludo who spoke through Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu said Nworah’s tenure has expired. He described the claims that she was sacked for supporting Peter Obi as falsehood.

In a statement tagged, “The Fake News on Ebenebe Woman Leader”, the governor claimed that Nworah only had intentions of staying longer than her expired tenure.

The statement reads, “The former President-General of Ebenebe Town Union (Women Wing), Mrs Favour Nworah is all over the social media claiming that she was removed from office by the Government of Anambra State because of her support for Mr Peter Obi and the Labour Party during the recent elections.

“Nothing can be further from the truth. The truth of the matter is that her tenure has expired. She then hired hirelings such as Mrs Florence Nnatu to organize protests on her behalf to influence the fake news that is making the rounds in social media.

“The House of Assembly Member elect from Awka North, Hon Chimezie Ikwunne, and TC Chair Awka North LGA, Hon ThankGod Anagor have confirmed that Mrs Nworah was appointed the Community’s Woman leader in 2019.

“The town’s constitution stipulates that the tenure for that position is 3 years. But Mrs Nworah ended up staying for 4 years and wanted to stay longer.

“At the end of the 4th year, the community decided to rotate the position to another village as there are 8 villages in Ebenebe. Since she didn’t have her way, she mischievously told her friends in social media that she was removed by government because she worked for Labour Party during the last election. And the media went to town without checking out the veracity of her claim.

“In their haste to report the falsehood, social media misfits failed a simple test in fact-checking their information. They stated that Ebenebe is in Awka South LGA when indeed the community is situated in Awka North LGA.

“What else is there to be said about writing fiction in the name of journalism? Mrs Nworah should look for another lie to tell!”
