The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has blamed the power blackout being experienced by customers in parts of the southeast to damages to its facilities by rainstorm.
EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Emeka Ezeh disclosed in a statement that the rainstorm caused supply disruption to the firm’s 11KV and 33KV feeders across its business districts.
He however said the firm’s technical/maintenance teams had commenced patrol of the network to evaluate extent of damage, urging customers to exercise patience and understanding while challenges were being addressed.
The statement reads, “The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers across the South East that the loss of supply in some areas within its network is due to the rainstorm.
“This resulted in faults, occassioned by fallen trees and high rate of broken High and Low Tension poles, causing supply disruption to our 11KV and 33KV feeders across the business districts.
“Our various technical/maintenance teams have since commenced patrol of the network to evaluate the extent of damage and treat faults where they are minimal.
“We regret the inconveniences these have caused our esteemed customers and appeal for their patience and understanding while these challenges are addressed.
“EEDC remains committed to delivering improved services to her esteemed customers.”
