A supporter of Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Princess Doris Njideka Ezeh has received a special award for her philanthropic support to indigent pupils and the management of Ezinwankwo Community Primary School, Ezeoyi village, Nibo in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra state.

Ezeh who is the founder of the Young Women Progressive Initiative for Peter Obi, received the award during a special send-off party organized for the recently retired headmistress of the school, Mrs Caroline Obi on May 18, 2023. According to Mrs Obi who presented the award, Mrs Ezeh was recognized by the management of Ezinwankwo Community primary school for her philanthropic support to indigent pupils and the school community Through her non-profit organization, Help the Kids for a Better Tomorrow Foundation.
She said: “I did not know Princess Njideka from anywhere but she eventually became one of the pillars supporting the school during my time here.

Not only that she was paying the school fees of many children in the school, but she was also equally giving food to hungry pupils from the school. Apart from providing financial help to the needy pupils, she was also helping me to manage the school.

She also took it upon herself to invite media people during one of our Parents Teachers Association (PTA) meetings last year to look into our challenges. As a result of that many prominent people in the community started calling us to know how they could support us.

Responding, Princess Ezeh expressed surprise for being honoured at the event with an award. She stressed that her contributions to the school were her way of giving back to society and helping less privileged children remain in school. “I consider these pupils as my children, that is why I go out of my way to use whatever I have to take care of them.

My joy is that most of them have continued to receive quality education through my foundation. My support to the school is also to ensure that the teachers and pupils at the school get quality teaching and learning.

Mrs Ezeh also seized the opportunity to appeal to well-meaning individuals to extend their support to indigent children and schools near them. “I’m appealing to well-meaning Nigerians to try their best to help these less privileged children around us. Even if it’s a child you are supporting to go to school, God will never forget you.

“I was able to notice that there were many pupils whose parents could not pay their fees because I took an interest in the school even though my children were not there. So, let us try our best to reach out to those people and help them in any possible ways we can”, she stressed.
