LEGAL PRACTITIONER CANVASSES FOR POSITIVE, IMPACTFUL LEADERSHIP ROLES FOR OHANEZE ON IGBO NATION AFFAIRS

Barrister Richard Agu, Igbo Lawyer and a public affairs analyst has canvasses for a positive and impactful leadership roles for Ohaneze the Igbo apex body on affairs concerning Igbos interest noting that it is high time the Organization shift their attention and dependence only on the Eze which is Igbo Leadership and focus its attention to the OHA which is Igbo general masses even as he slammed all the governors of South East zone for poor performance on development index of the region.

Canvassing for this position in a lecture he delivered titled Akuruoulo, Ohaneze and Igbo governors, time for paradigm shift during this year Tornado Club annual convention held at Abacha Town Idemili North LGA Anambra State last weekend, Agu said that the organization Ohaneze Ndi Igbo ought to be the supreme organ of the Igbo nations which suppose to act as a catalyst for enhancement of development in the entire Igbo nation.

While positing that there is the need for a paradigm shift for Ohaneze to take up leading roles in all Igbos interest in Nigerian nation, the legal practitioner stated that beyond advocacy and preachments that the organization should be made to be intentional, deliberate and focused in the process of fashioning the fresh method of engagements for the people adding that the organization should work to be independent and selfless which every Igbo man can trust to be able to take up this leadership roles.

Said he, “For Ohaneze to take up this responsibility and close this gap, the organisation leaders must be independent and carry the confidence of the Igbo nation, they must be weaned off the Igbo Political Class especially the governors for them to thrive, they should draw its power from the people, the trinity of Igbo industriousness from Ogbete to Ogige Nsukka, Abakaliki to Owerri Eke Onunwa, Asaba to Warri, Benin to Ijebu ode, Umuahia to Ikot Ekpene markets should be included as their inclusion will enhance the efficacy of Ohaneze”.

Speaking on Akurueulo (bringing of wealth back to Igbo Land philosophy) he describes the philosophy as apt noting that there is the importance of every Igbo people in diasporas in keying in to the philosophy.

He stated that he expect the Ohaneze to champion the philosophy of the totality of wealth to get home with a superintendent of Oha na Ndi eze operating under the ambit of Igbo governors as we gradually getting to the end of first quarter of the 21st century.

Said he again, “Akuruo Ulo in the instance is a directive that our wealth should reach home, it must get to our source and not just be there for the benefit of our host”

Aku can ruo ulo if Ohaneze does it job properly and keeps the Igbo governors in check, Aku should ruo ulo because most of our hosts are no longer very hospitable”

On Igbo governors of South East performances, he slammed the entire five governors in the zone for not doing enough to develop the area. He argued that considering the quantum of resources that are for their disposal that their performances cannot be compared with the wonderful performances of Ex, Gov. Sam Mbakwe and Chief Jim Nwobodo the former governor of old Anambra State who he said achieved much more than existing five governors. He stated that those two ex governors despite lean resources were able to make their mark in establishment of landmark achievements in the area of industrialization, infrastructures, health cares, sports which are non existence now.

Earlier while speaking to newsmen after a courtesy call to the traditional ruler of Abacha town HRM Igwe Godwin Odiegwu, Chief Ndukwe Duroha the President of Tornado Club and this year host of the Club Annual Convention, Chief Emeka Okelo the former President General of Abacha Town Said the club was made of a group of friends who are alumni of Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH) now Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Awka who graduated from 1985, 86, 87 and 88, who came together to socialize and help humanity adding that the members of the club are tested professionals who are doing marvelously well in their chosen endeavours.
