A 32-year old man, Smith Tolulope, on Wednesday appeared at an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly inflicting injury on his neighbour’s head with sword.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Adesina Elisha, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 26, around 7:00 p.m. at Eleyele Area, Ile-Ife.
Elisha said that the defendant inflicted injury on one Omoniyi Timothy by matcheting his head with sword, resulting to a deep cut on his head.
According to him, the offence contravened the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, who was not legally represented, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of assault.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi granted the defendant bail for N250,000 with two sureties in same amount.
Sarumi added that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction and the addresses to be verified by the prosecutor.
According to her, one of the sureties must be a landed property owner who must deposit the original copy of the receipt of the land with the court.
She stated further that the sureties must present three years tax clearance certificate, with three recent passport photographs each.
The case was adjourned until May 3, for hearing.(NAN)
