The 2023 Enugu State Federation and Aiteo Cup competition will kick off on Saturday with 11 teams slogging it out for the slot to national competitions.
The Secretary, Enugu State Football Association, Francis Ugwu, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Friday.
Ugwu said that the state league clubs would play at the first stage.
NAN reports that all matches would be played inside the Rangers International FC training pitch, Liberty Estate, Enugu.
According to him, the first stage will see eight state league clubs battle it out to the next stage, which would feature the Nationwide League one (NLO) and Nigeria National League (NNL).
The winner from the state league clubs will face the NLO club, Ingas FC, on match day eight of the competition.
He said that the winner of the match day eight between Ingas and the league club would face the only NNL club, Giant Brillars FC, in match day nine, which serves as the semifinal.
At the final, the winner of the match day nine would face Rangers International FC of Enugu, the only Nigeria Premier Football League club (NPFL) in the competition.
NAN also reports that only two teams registered for the Women Federation and Aiteo Cup competition in Enugu State.
According to the fixture, Immaculate Queens FC will play Green Foot Soccer Academy on March 3. (NAN)
