Soludo celebrates Anyaoku on 90th birthday

Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has congratulated a former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, on his 90th birthday celebrations.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Anyaoku clocked 90 on Jan. 18.

Soludo, in a congratulatory message issued by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, described Anyaoku as an astute and experienced diplomat.

He said that the elder statesman had demonstrated immense capacity to duty, with outstanding achievements worthy of commendation.

“Attaining the age of 90 is worthy of celebration and deserves immense gratitude to God Almighty for His grace and protection.

“The former secretary-general of the Commonwealth has remained a reliable and dutiful man who has meritoriously served at the global stage, the nation and his immediate community.

“The various developmental programmes executed during his tenure as the Commonwealth secretary-general, particularly his exceptional roles in the struggle for freedom, justice and democracy in Africa and across the globe, are commendable,” he said.

While wishing Anyaoku many more blissful years ahead, the governor prayed God to grant him good health and wisdom to continue to render more selfless services to humanity. (NAN)(
