Invest in Anambra to empower not to make money – Soludo’s aide urges diaspora indigenes

Anambra State Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Hon. Chinedu Nwoye has called on indigenes residing outside the state to bring home their investments towards developing the state.

He said the target should be to empower people of the state and not necessarily to make money. 

Nwoye spoke in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area of the state after receiving an award from a group, Great Akuluno International Friends Club for his outstanding performance in the development of the state.

He commended the group’s initiative to relocate their investments to the state, just as he appreciated them for finding him worthy for the award, assuring them of conducive and security friendly environment for their various businesses.

He said, “I feel so great and honored today. The concept is a wonderful and I urge others yet to key into the laudable idea to borrow a leaf from them. 

“The target, I must say should not be to make money, but to empower the people. If you build houses outside the state, that’s individual empowerment, but when you invest your resources in the state, you’re empowering thousands of people.

“Many pay taxes on their foreign investments, yet don’t pay for those in Anambra. How can government function without money? Simply make Anambra your head office so money being remitted by Federal government will come to us.”

Earlier president of the group, led by Chief Ginikanwa Chukwudi said the choice of the award to Soludo’s aide was informed by his transperancy, hardwork and uprightness, with interest of the state at heart. 

Financial Secretary of the group, Chief Austin Dim revealed the group’s plans to establish schools and hospitals across the Southeast.

“We’re not looking for what we can receive from awardees. Rather our interest is what we can contribute to make our state and county great. We have acquired not less than three plots of land in less than three years we started.

“We intend to build schools for those who can’t afford to pay fees as well as medical centers for those who can’t afford medical bills. We want to replicate what is obtainable in countries like Brazil and others.

“We’re taking it as a challenge to ensure our people benefit from what we’re enjoying over there. We’re planning to cite the project in all the five states in the Southeast with Anambra as the pilot state,” he added.

The group’s grand patron, Dr Augustine Ekweozor appreciated members of the group for thinking home, describing it as a demonstration of patriotism targeted at assisting government develop the state.

“Don’t bother about pockets of insecurity in the state; they’re not enough reason to stay away. If all of us run away, who will develop our state? Charity they say begins at home,” he posited.

Also speaking, traditional ruler of Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area of the state, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu thanked the group for keying into the think home philosophy which former Governor Willie Obiano harped on.

He described the award as well deserved, saying the awardee has demonstrated transperancy, hardwork and uprightness, with interest of the state at heart.
