A philanthropist, High Chief, Dr. Azubuike Ekweozor has donated foodstuffs, wrappers and other household items to over 1,500 indigent men and women in Anambra State.

The beneficiaries, drawn from Awka North and South Local Government Areas of the state benefited from 700 cartons of indomie, 400 (50kg) and 100 (25kg) bags of rice, wrappers, fans, plastic chairs and drums, among other items under the philanthropist’s Ide Global Movement.

Speaking during the presentation of the items at his Umuawulu residence, Founder of the organization, High Chief, Dr. Azubuike Ekweozor said he was always fulfilled putting smiles on people’s faces, especially the indigents and vulnerable.

He said he chose to distribute the items to the less privileged in his area on the first day of the year to cushion the effects of the harsh economic realities faced by Nigerians throughout last year.

“Despite complaints by most Nigerians of the level of suffering due to bad economy, God has continued to bless me and my family. It will only amount to ingratitude if I don’t extend same to others,” he said.

Ekweozor further urged the beneficiaries, especially the parents among them to ensure proper training of their children so they could become responsible in life in order to take care of them in future.

“This ceremony has become an annual event. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we distributed so many paliatives and relief materials to the indigents, last year, we donated vehicles and other items. This year, we’re here again.

“I owe it as a duty to do what I am doing today. I must appreciate my parents for what I am today. Infact, my mum is not against what I’m doing today. Instead she encourages me to do more. The same with my dad, and that’s the reason God is blessing me immensely.

“Unfortunately, some parents of today are suffering today because they abandoned their children to all forms of vices, including hard drugs. Parents must know that there is much work to be done, especially the young ones,” he stressed.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Edith Okoro appreciated the benefactor for the kindness, praying God to reward him bountifully.

“What a way to start the year! Ide knows exactly what we need each time he gathers us. May God will continue to bless him for us. I pray others will learn from his large heart,” she said.
