2023 Census: NPC Urges Officers to Maximize Benefits of Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) Training

The National Population Commission (NPC) has urged facilitators undergoing the Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) training to take the exercise seriously in view of its huge impact on the forthcoming population and housing census.

Federal Commissioner representing Anambra State in the Commission, Mr. Chidi Ezeoke stated this in Awka while flagging off a 5-day training on Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI).

He said President Muhammadu Buhari has investment hugely on the project to ensure credible and verifiable census, insisting that the trainees could not afford to fail in their duties.

He said, “You’re going to be trained on the use of the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to be used by enumerators, as well as the application of the installed softwares. 

“We’re making sure you’re properly armed with how to upload the data in the central server at the headquarters which would transmitted real time. 

“You must take the training very seriously as the Enumerators would be depending heavily on the information they would be getting from them. 

“You can’t afford to fail because it’s the information you give the enumerators that they will use on site. 

“Any information contrary to the one in the PDA will affect that of the central server which will ultimately trauncate the end product of an credible, reliable and verifiable census we intend to give Nigeria.”

State Director, Dr. Joachim Ulasi disclosed that a total of 84 participants, comprising staff and ad-hoc staff were undergoing the training.

Some of the facilitators, Mr Ugochukwu Umeh and Okafor ifeoma assured their diligence to the training to enable them teach enumerators accurately for the success of the Census.
