“2023 Polls: Nwoye Charges Anambra Youths on Getting PVCs, Says Elections Not Won on Social Media

The Candidate of the Labour Party, for Anambra North Senatorial Zone, Dr. Tony Nwoye has adviced Nigerian youths to be part of the electoral system to enable them determine who to lead them come 2023 general elections.

He stressed the need for them to go for their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), insisting that campaign on social media was entirely different from actualizing their dreams through voting.

Nwonye, a former president of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) spoke at his residence in Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area of the state while signing a peace accord to show his commitment towards peaceful and credible poll.

He said his major interest was inclusion of youths and persons with disabilities, underscoring the need for them to be encouraged, engaged and empowered to ensure a peaceful nation.

He however regretted that some youths were engaged in certain exuberances and other vices rather than channeling their energies to something positive.

He said, “I pay regular visits to some universities and polytechnics to lecture the youths on the need to disengage in youthful exuberances and not be negatively engaged during the upcoming election.

“I always advice the youths to be part of the system and determine whom to lead, cast your votes without violence; election is not a fight neither is it a war, it is about the process of selecting who to represent us come 2023.

“They also need to collect their PVCs and condemn all sorts of electoral, tribalism and religious sentiments.”

Earlier, Executive Director, Catch Them Young Community Initiative (CATYCOI), Nonso Orakwe said the visit was to partner the candidate to foster peaceful and credible election in his zone.

He said, “The purpose of this visit is to partner with you as a politician to foster a peaceful and credible election in your zone come 2023 general election through your subordinates/followers. 

“Catch Them Young Community Initiative (CATYCOI) is a youth led organisation poised to promote good governance and democracy; while Vote not fight; election no be war is a non-partisan voter Education to promote fair, peaceful and credible elections in Nigeria. 

“Therefore, we are here for you to make a commitment for a peaceful election and to support Youth, women and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) agenda.”
