2023: Obi Tasks JDPC on Effective Election Monitoring for Credible Poll

The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi has charged a Catholic missionary organization, Justice Development, Peace Caritas, JDPC, to ensure effective monitoring of forthcoming general election for free, fair and credible poll.

He gave the charge during a fund raising/award ceremony of JDPC, held at Saint Marry Catholic hall, Onitsha for its numerous projects, including buses for its evangelical work and complete construction of its secretariat.

Obi represented by Hon. Ugochukwu Ezeani, a former chairman of Onitsha South Ccouncil Area, reminded members of the body that Nigeria destiny is in their hands.

He said, “The time has come for you as usual, to monitor the conduct of the election and help in teaching the electorate the essence of having good leaders to take the country to the next level.

“Don’t relent in your resolve to ensure that good leaders are elected to represent the people.

“You have the opportunity to vote for the Labour Party Presisential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, now, if you want the sufferings to end. Vote all LP candidates to move the country forward.”

Also speaking, LP candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Victor Umeh recalled that JDPC has been playing special role politically despite being a missionary organization, stating that, “in 2003, when there was false declaration of result in the State, it was the JDPC that helped to rectify it.”

He described Obi as the best of the three big parties to reposition the country, pointing out that the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic  Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, should not have joined the race since the North was presently in power.

“The principle of rotation should be respected, the West has also taken its slot of the presidential seat.

He blamed the suffering today by Nigerians on bad leaders adding that when the righteous is in power the people rejoice.

In her response, President of JDPC, Onitsha Region, Rotarian Cordelia Mba, commended all that honoured JDPC invitation despite their tight schedules, pledging that the body would not relent in her effort towards ensuring free, fair and credible election.

She described the present administration as a disgrace to the people that elected it into power adding that it worsened the sufferings of Nigerians.

In his contribution, chairman of the planning committee, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, express satisfaction with the presence of Chief Victor Umeh, stating that his likes if elected, would help to turn around the country.

“The political role being played by JDPC, has contributed immensely towards creation of political awareness and need for all to participate in election,” he said.

Earlier, the JDPC Director, Rev Fr. Edwin Udoye stressed the need for assistance to JDPC, to enable it embark on numerous projects for better life to the society.

Among those in attendance included, Barr Joe Ogbuli, chairman of the ocassion,  Hon. Tony Nwoye, LP Anambra North Senatorial candidate and Rtd justice Veronica Umeh, represented by Mrs. Nkoli Ebede.
