Scores of Nnewi Sports Club members, Nnewi, Anambra State as well as non members have ascertained their health status as part of the activities to mark 50years anniversary of the club courtesy of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi.

The NAUTH, under the Associate Professor Joseph Ugboaja as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) sponsored the free medical mission for the club and non members which was organized by his Chief of Staff, MLS, Jackson Njoku.

Njoku, who represented Ugboaja at the event, said the CMD deemed it necessary to use the opportunity of the golden jubilee to offer free medical services to members of the Nnewi Sports Club and Nnewi residents, generally.

“This is part of the social responsibilities of the health institution. It is advised that people should know their health status from time to time to achieve general physical fitness and overall good health,” he said.

The leader of the medical team, Dr Asekeme Omokhowa said the medical personnel were conducting checks on the blood pressure, random blood sugar and emotion of the patients.

He said that the response was fair enough. “Some of the patients examined asked questions that showed they were generally interested in their health. Most of them are quite healthy which proves that they have been taking good care of their health. A lot of them do enough exercise to keep them physically fit, ” Dr Omokhowa said.

Beneficiaries of the exercise commended the NAUTH management for making the free medical mission part of the golden jubilee celebration.
