Final-Year Student Commits Suicide over Failed Relationship at Federal Polytechnic Oko

A final year student of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has allegedly committed suicide over a failed relationship.

The incident which took place on Friday, according to sources, have thrown the polytechnic into shock and mourning.

Accordinary to the source, the deceased, whose identity was yet to be confirmed, was undergoing his one year Industrial Training preparatory for his graduation when the tragic incident occurred. He was said to have consumed Dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate compound (DDVP, 2,2), an insecticide killer substance popularly known as SNIPER after allegedly being jilted by his girlfriend.

A student of the institution, Iyke Orji who broke the story on the social media described the deceased as “full of energy and life, and an intelligent boy with close to distinction (First class)”.

Orji further provide insight on the deceased: “He’s currently in his IT days, a student of Public Administration. He decided to stay in Oko for his one year industrial training, (but) instead of focusing on his training, he decided to search for true love.”

According to him, after his girlfriend ended their relationship, he was devastated, and on Friday, when he couldn’t endure it, drank sniper insecticide and died.

The Public relations officer of the institution, Mr Chijioke Ibeziakor was yet to react to the incident at press time.

The state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga was not available to confirm the incident as he could not be reached as at press time.
