An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Thursday, ordered that a man, Kazeem Bakare, 42, be remanded in a correctional centre on an accusation of stabbing another man to death.

The police had arraigned Bakare, who claimed to be unemployed and of no known address, and charged him with murder before the Iyaganku court, presided over by Mrs O. A Akande. Akende did not take the plea of the accused on the ground of want in jurisdiction.

She, rather, directed the police to return the case file to the office of the Oyo state director of public prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

She consequently adjourned the case till December 19, awaiting the advice from the DPP’s office.

The prosecution counsel, Mr Philip Amusan, earlier in the proceeding, alleged, as he addressed the court, that the defendant (Bakare) committed the offence on October 20, 2022 at about 9:30 a.m, at Onimalu area of Ibadan.

Amusan alleged that Bakare caused the death of Jelili Saka, 40, when he stabbed him with a broken bottle in the neck.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 319 of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)
