NSCDC, NHRC Vow to Checkmate Rights Violation in Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command has reassured the National Human Rights Commission of the Command’s determination to partner with the agency on the promotion, protection and enforcement of human rights in the State.

The State Commandant, Isidore C. Chikere made the pledge on Wednesday while receiving State Coordinator of National Human Rights Commission, Barrister Obinna Maduforo on a courtesy visit at the State Command Headquarters Awka. 

He stated that NSCDC acknowledged and remained a reliable allay in the fight against human rights violation and would collaborate with relevant stakeholders in monitoring and enforcing human rights standards.

He said, “We’re ready to partner with the agency on the promotion, protection and enforcement of human rights in the State. 

“We shall continue to observe Human Rights tenets in our operations.”

In his remarks, Barr. Maduforo stated that his visit was to familiarize himself with the State Commandant and work out a joint formidable partnership in the promotion and protection of human rights. 

He expressed gratitude to the State Commandant for granting him audience in recognition of the fact that both agencies were duty bound to ensure that human right abuses and violations were completely eradicated.
