Physically Challenged Woman, 35, Loses Goods Worth Millions to Fire at Nnewi

A 35-year old physically challenged woman, Amobichukwu Amara on Tuesday lost goods worth millions of naira to a midnight fire that gutted her shop in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The shop, located at Umudim-Nnewi was reportedly set on fire at about 2.00am on by yet-to-be identified hoodlums.

Some of the items lost in the inferno included deep freezer, power generating set, kitchen utensils, plastic tables and chairs, 150 create of drinks, among other items.

Speaking with reporters in Nnewi, visibly devastated Amara lamented that all her investments since she ventured into the business in 2019 were razed in the fire.

She however said that she was not suspecting anyone as she never had issues with anybody.

She said, “I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve this. There are about ten shops in this location, yet it is only my own that the night marauders singled out to burn.

“Whoever that did this has finished me. I have been struggling to proof that there is ability in disability, that is why I am not begging for alms to feed, rather I employed a few people to help me with my business.

“The argument of whether the fire was caused by power surge should be perished because I use power generating set, I don’t use electricity, I believe certain persons have just decided to punish me for only what God knows.”

Describing her condition as confusing, the Nnewi born lady called on spirited individuals within and outside the state to come to her aid.

“What can I do? I have been pushed to my wits end by perpetrators of this dastard act, I can only hope and pray that affluent people in the society will rise up to my assistance,” Amara prayed.
