SWAN Hails Onyedum”s Appointment As Anambra Sports Commission Chairman

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra chapter has hailed the appointment of Mr. Patrick Estate Onyedum as chairman of Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC).

SWAN, in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Mr. Anthony Oji, and Secretary, Mr. Patrick Anaso described
Onyedum’s appointment as a square peg in a square hole because of his rich pedigree as an athlete and sports administrator.

Anambra SWAN’s statement read: “It is instructive to note that he did not only take part in active sports, he is at the moment, chairman of Chairman Anambra State Athletics Association (AAA) and Southeast representatives in Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) at a time.

“”Onyedum as a former transition chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area organised the annual Anaocha Athletics Championship for secondary schools in the area where young athletes were discovered for grooming.

The group further said that it was convinced that, armed with these records, Onyedum will turn the fortunes of Anambra Sports for good as the chairman of the commission.

“SWAN expresses its readiness to partner with administration in promoting his activities and also to provide positive critiquing in the overall interest of Anambra athletes sporting community.”

SWAN further thanked Anambra Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for the appointment and urge him to give the new management under Onyedum all the political and financial support it needs to succeed.
