Federal Polytechnic Oko to Partner seeks COREN on Human Capital Development, Fight Quackery In Anambra

The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko in Anambra State, has expressed the Polytechnic’s willingness to partner with the Anambra State Council for the Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria, COREN.

Rector of the polytechnic, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko in Anambra State, Dr Francisca Unoma Nwafulugo, made the disclosure during a meeting with the Anambra State Council of COREN ERM team, who paid her a familiarization visit to intimate her of the activities of the council in the state.

Dr. Nwafulugo affirmed that the collaboration will assist lecturers in the Engineering Department to acquire more Industrial and practical knowledge of the profession.

According to the Rector, the Federal Polytechnic, Oko will partner with COREN in training engineering lecturers and students in the various technical departments in recognized companies in Nigeria especially Anambra State.

The rector emphasized that COREN and the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, under her leadership, will work to achieve a common goal in the future interest of Nigeria’s Engineering students.

She however lamented over how their engineering students are doing their one-year mandatory Industrial Training (IT), in banks, hospitals and in classroom teaching. She pleaded with COREN on behalf of the Polytechnic management, to assist them as a regulatory engineering body in Nigeria, to get very good Industrial Companies or Engineering Firms for industrial attachment to enable their engineering students have the required practical knowledge of the profession they choose to undergo in life.

She however ceased the opportunity to assure the Anambra COREN Council that the Institution is going to collaborate and partner with them to achieve all their goals and vision. She also promised to do anything in her capacity for COREN to excel and have a positive impact on the society and the institution at large

The Anambra State Chairman of COREN, Engr. Victor Onyeanyana Meju who appreciated the Rector for her warm reception and the Engineering Department of the institution and school management for the assurance of a continuous and cordial relationship cum partnership, stated that the partnership drive is very needful and promised that COREN under his watch in the State, will ensure the full, peaceful and functionality of making sure that Engineerng profession is given it’s pride of place in the society.

He however pointed out clearly that COREN which has been inaugurated in fifteen States of the Federation are out to fight and eliminate quackery and reduce the incessant collapse of building in the state.

He affirmed that this collaboration will help engineering students of the Institution train practically in areas of their discipline and also to partner with the Institution in other areas of human capital development.

He also assured that he will fight to ensure that students of the institution is issued valid and recognised certificate at the completion of their one-year mandatory Industrial attachment, from any of designated companies in the State, like Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing Company Nnewi, and Julius Berger PLC, among others.
