Anambra Football Association Kickstart Grassroots Talent Hunt

The Anambra state Football Association says all is set for the commencement of hunt for grassroots talents across the state.

Anambra FA Chairman, Mr. Chikelue Iloenyosi made the revelation while speaking with sports journalists in Awka on his plans for grassroots football development in the state.

According to him, there are lots of ideas and progrmames for grassroots sports in Anambra state which will kick start with a hunt of talents in the twenty one local government areas of the state.

The former Nigerian International further disclosed that his administration, was ready to partner the Anambra state Sports Development Commission, to identify young talents in schools and local communities across the state.

The ex-Super Eagles defender who noted that he was driven by passion to improve on the rich football history in the state, expressed his resolve to contribute towards ensuring that the state Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s blueprint on sports and overall development of the state becomes a reality.

Mr. Iloenyosi further disclosed that the football talent hunt which is expected to officially commence on Saturday 8th October 2022 is also aimed at scouting for players that would be able to represent the state in the Nations Unders 15, 16, 20 and the Super eagles team was was the case before when Anambra used to produce top players for the country.

Anambra FA boss who underscored the importance of grassroots sports to the overall development of the sports sector, also revealed that moving forward there would be several tournaments that will be unveiled with aim of keeping the football lovers busy all through the year.

He said that he has also penciled down three ex international players for a coaching training that will empower them to be able to transfer their wealth of football knowledge to the younger generations.

He also gave an assurance that plans were on to make sure that the state floats a football team that will represent Anambra in national and intercontinental competitions.
