Two persons lost their lives in a building collapse in Ibolo, Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The deceased were said to be working at the two story facility when the incident occurred at the early hours of Friday.
“The Engineer in charge had instructed the workers to remove the second floor which was not properly constructed. It was in course of the removal that the building caved in,” a resident of the area said.
When our correspondent visited the scene, scarvator was removing the debris in order to recover the dead bodies trapped under the building.
Reacting, Executive Secretary, Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Ekwusigo Local Government, Stella Nnacho described the incident as unfortunate.
She however said the owners of the facility did not secure building permit before embarking on the building.
