The Labour Party candidate for Oyi Constituency at Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Obinna Okafor, has accused Governor Dave Umahi of masterminding the police clampdown on supporters of Peter Obi during last Saturday’s rally in Abakaliki.

Okafot recalled that Umahi decamped from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC) , hoping to clinch the Presidential ticket of the party, but failed woefully during the primary.

“We are not surprised that some of our supporters were attacked in Abakaliki. It is unfortunate that the incident happened in Abakaliki, Southeast, where all of us are expecting that is our own, for maximum support.

“The Governor can not claim not to be aware of what happened, he is the Chief Security Officer, of Ebonyi State, and should be the one to give account of what happens in the State.

“There is nothing that happens there that he is not aware of, as Chief Security Officer. Assuming he was not aware of what happened, how many suspects has he arrested after the incident. That tells you he has an idea of what happened, he wanted to be President of Nigeria, that was why he left for APC, and since he lost, has he been able to say his State is not going to support Bola Tinubu, APC Presidential candidate.?”.

Ho+e recalled that, “Sometime in the past he (Governor), Umahi, said that they (Ebonyi people), were not ‘Obidients’, that they were going to deliver his APC, party. So we are watching to see how that is going to turn out. Same thing wants to happen at Lekki, Lagos State, as LP supporters are preparing for a million-man-March, the APC has gone to court to stop the march, because they are all APC supporters, they don’t want labour party in their States.

“They are afraid of what is happening in Nigeria now, the movement of LP by youths, because those in power have failed us. We knew where we were about seven years ego before they took power and where we are now.

“To worsen the situation they even presented an old man, (sorry we are praying to get old), a man whose health condition is deteriorating, that he can’t really manage the affairs of the country.

“Look at what happened when he went to Gombe State, he slept off because he was tired, you can’t cheat nature. We are expecting more States to be hostile, the youths and Nigerians are determined to take back their country from the old politicans and they are unstoppable.”

The House of Assembly hopeful hinted that presently in Nigeria, two factors are playing role in the coming general election, stating that one factor is 20 percent, and they are those who are playing partisan politics while 80 per cent are those who do not belong to any political party.

According to him the 80 per cent that do not belong to any political party, resolved that the old politicans have failed them and they want a change for the youths, to take back the country as it can not be business as usual again.
