Anambra Government Vows Clampdown on Substandard, Violent, Explicit Content Books in Schools

Anambra State Government has said that it would no longer condone use of sub-standard books in schools.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma Udeh gave the warning while addressing publishers from various publishing houses in a meeting held at the Ministry of Education, Awka, the state capital.

She said the era of training children with sub-standard books was over, warning that

no nudity or decadence would be portrayed in novels meant for the children.

She said, “This is no time to train our children with sub-standard books.

“There should be no violence, no nudity or decadence portrayed in novels children will read and these novels must be well printed.”
