Anambra Police Operatives Arrest 22-year Old Suspected Cultist on His Way to Initiation

Police operatives under the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a 21-year old suspected cultist, Mr. Izunna Ifeobu at Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to a statement by the state police public relations officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect was intercepted at eke Obosi, by Obosi/Nkpor road on his way to be initiated in a cult meeting.

He said a size single barrel gun concealed in a bag was recovered from him, adding that his accomplices other gang members fled the venue of the initiation meeting on hearing of Izunna’s arrest.

He said, “Police Operatives attached to Obosi Divisional Headquarters in conjunction with the members of the Vigilante Group Obosi, arrested one Izunna Ifeobu โ€˜Mโ€™ aged 21years, native of Ugamuma village Obosi, recover one cut to size single barrel gun concealed in a bag.

“The Operatives were on patrol and following the information received on 12/09/2022 at about 6:30pm, that a cult group has a meeting scheduled on the above mention date. Izunna was intercepted at eke Obosi, by Obosi/Nkpor road. 

“He confessed to be a member of Baggers confraternity and was on his way to the initiation ceremony. 

“Meanwhile the other gang members on hearing of his arrest fled the venue of the initiation meeting. 

“The case has been transferred to Anti- Cult formation of the Police Command for a discreet investigations and efforts are in place to arrest other members.”
