Man Shot Senior Brother over N1500 Electricity Bill Dispute, Flee to Police Station in Nnewi

Peter Orji has been detained by police for allegedly killing his senior brother, Godwin who disconnected his electricity over non-payment of bill.

AnambraDaily gathered that the tragic incident took place on Tuesday at Okpunoeze village, Uruagu Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State following a brawl between the two brothers over disconnection of the light.

Trouble started when the suspect failed to pay his monthly  bill of ₦1500, leading to disconnection of his electricity.
He was said to have confronted his brother, also living on the same compound over the development.

A source said, “The quarrel reached to the point that Peter got angry, rushed into his room, grabbed his gun, came out and shot his elder brother, Godwin Orji.

“Peter, after committing the act, quickly run to a nearest police station and surrendered himself, for the fear of being mobbed.

When contacted, Police spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect had been arrested contrary to claims that he willingly surrendered himself to the police.

He said, ” The wife of the suspect was first arrested at the scene of the crime, after which the suspect himself was arrested; both of whom are currently in the police custody.

“The Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng has ordered that the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department ( CID) for discreet investigation.”
