Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo has urged women in the state to take advantage of the ongoing August Meeting to discuss ways to end increasing cases of drug abuse among youths as well as domestic violence against children.
The governor’s wife who stated this while hosting women groups at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, also asked them to use the annual all-women convergence to find ways to invest in lucrative agriculture, and to also pay attention to what they call food as well as work on their hygiene practices.
She said, “Women must understand that there is a huge task ahead, with reference to the current social insecurities which must be tackled squarely.
“Mothers, as the heart and conscience of the home and society, must wake up and lead the fight, particularly on increasing reports of drug use among school children and domestic violence against children, ask serious questions about mothers’ roles in a better society.”
Soludo’s wife also reassured them that her husband’s development model is a product of careful thoughts and strategic planning, and called for support in the quest for a better Anambra State.
Mrs Soludo had been engaged in a weeklong รญnteraction with organized women groups from different social, political, pro-government and religious backgrounds.
The women groups included wives of traditional rulers, women presidents general, religious women leaders from Catholic, Anglican and Pentecostal churches.
