Anambra Assembly Confirms Members of 21 Council Transition Committees

The Anambra State House of Assembly on Friday confirmed the appointment of 21 candidates selected by Governor Chukwuma Soludo as the new Transition Chairman of the Local Government Areas of the state.

Amongst the candidates whose appointment was approved by the state legislature is Engr. Ogochukwu Ekwueme, the son of the late former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme. He is the Transition Committee Chairman for Orumba North LGA.

Other Transition Chairmen confirmed at the Plenary by the Anambra State House of Assembly for the remaining 20 Local Government Areas are: Prince Chibuike Ofobuike(Aguata), Dr. Anselem Onuorah ( Anambra East), Mr. Felix Ikechi (Anambra West), Mr. Gerald Ikechukwu Ozo (Anaocha), Mr. Emmanuel Ucheze (Awka North), Mr. Thankgod Aniago (Awka South) , Hon. Livinus Onyenwe (Ayamelum), Mr. Augustine Onyemaobi Nonyelum ( Dunukofia) , Mr. James Chimezie Obi (Ekwusigo), Mr. Chucks Brown Igboanua (Idemili North) and Mrs. Immaculata Amaka Obi (Idemili South).

Others are Mr. Kingsley Obi (Ihiala), Mr. Clems Aguiyi (Njikoka), Mr. Mbazuluike Iloka (Nnewi North), Mr. Ikenna Oluchukwu Aniagbaoso
(Nnewi South), Mr. Charles Ozoma (Onitsha North),Mr. Emeka Orji ( Onitsha South), Mr. Sunday Uchendu (Orumba South), Mr. Emmanuel Nweke (Oyi) and Mr. Paschal Chidiebere Aniegbuna (Ogbaru).

Arising from the Electoral College formed by the members of the House during their plenary session on Friday, the state legislature affirmed the constitution of the Transition Committee members of the twenty one Local Government Councils in Anambra State.

At the plenary, the Electoral College considered in earnest and confirmed the nominees of Mr. Governor as Chairmen and members of the Transition Committees of the 21 Local Government Councils in Anambra State for a period of three months, as provided for in the Local Government Law of Anambra State, 1999 (as amended).

While confirming the Chairmen and those to work with them as Councillors of various political wards in the state, the members of the State House of Assembly charged them to keep to the true tenets of public service rendition and ensure that they work in consonance with the transformation agenda of Mr Governor geared towards making Anambra a more liveable and prosperous homeland.
