A 34-year-old man identified as Bayo has been apprehended by police and detained for allegedly beating his 34-year-old lover, Faith, to death during a squabble and attempting to dispose of her corpse.
According to a report by P.M.EXPRESS, the incident took place at Baale Street, Okerube area of Ikotun in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos state, where the deceased lived with the suspect before her death over an undisclosed disagreement.
It was gathered that the deceased was pregnant for Bayo and moved into his apartment where she was later delivered the baby. According to sources close to the couple, their relationship deteriorated after the baby’s arrival, leading to constant squabbles and fighting.
The source further disclosed that efforts by the neighbours as well as parents of the deceased and the suspect to resolve their differences were unsuccessful until the tragic incident that led to her death.
“On the day the incident happened, it was gathered that Bayo had engaged and beat her mercilessly before she slumped and died on the spot.
It was then it dawned on Bayo that he had murdered Faith”, the source said.
The suspect reportedly arranged for an ambulance and put her corpse inside a sack before calling her parents that their daughter had died in his house and that he was taking her corpse to the mortuary.
It was gathered that they reported the case to the police at Ikotun Division and the suspect was arrested.
Although the DPO of Ikotun Station, CSP Adagba Johnson, was not available to comment on the case, a police source confirmed that the matter had been transferred to the SCID, Yaba, for further investigation.
