The League of Igbo Youth Lawyers (LIYOLAW), has berated Enugu Catholic Priest Ejike Mbaka, over what it termed malice against former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi.
The group also described comments by former Senate Deputy President Ike Ekweremmadu and Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi as distractions from credible focus on Igbo agenda and the 2023 presidential election.
In a statement signed by its national president, Barr Stanley Okafor, the group described both politicians as willfully uncharitable to the Igbo cause, just as it regretted Mbaka’s seeming resolve to use the priestly offy to destroy Obi.
He also described the cleric as faulty nut in the mechanics of priesthood, advising Ndi Igbo and all Nigerians of goodwill to ignore the politicians as they continue to pray for national emancipation and institutionalization of justice and balance for every region of the country.
The statement reads in part, “The people of the old eastern region and their compatriots nationwide were in consensus and agreement to move the nation from era of consumption to one of production.
“But we observed that comments credited to former senate deputy president Ekweremmadu that Igbos would vote the People’s Democratic Party in 2023 were imaginations of his thought which where at variance with the position of youths and people of the region.
“The PDP which Igbos have supported massively since 1999 and which was partly established by the people of the region had turned its back on Igbos and treated them with scorn by failing to recognize their right to fly the party’s flag for the presidential election when it was duly their turn.
“it was apparent that the sole purpose of the governor Umahi’s defection to the party after failure to secure APC presidential nomination, was his hope to be rewarded with its presidential ticket.
“His failure was not the fault of Ndi Igbo but that of his party men, including President Buhari whom the governor has ceaselessly eulogized.”
The group further sighted the spiritual director of the Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka as a faulty nut in the mechanics of priesthood for his malice against former Governor Peter Obi and his seeming resolve to use the offices of priesthood to destroy the conservative politician.
“In the document that Obi was one of the brightest hopes of young Nigerians at the moment, one wonders why Fr. Mbaka would continue to make series of incredible political untterances capable of jeopardizing the stability of the region,” it added.
